Arta

Encompassed by the spectacular mountain range, and overlooking the valley below, lies the town of Arta. Untouched by tourism and demonstrating traditional architecture at its finest, it’s easy to see why Arta is one of Mallorca’s most precious gems. Famous for its handmade pottery, and hand woven baskets - Arta transports you to a forgotten Mallorca and allows you to detach from modern day life; it really is paradise.

Market

Tuesday, 8am -1pm

Arta’s market is one of the most sought-after markets on the island, attracting tourists from far and wide. Displaying handmade crafts (in particular pottery and baskets), fresh produce, jewellery, and clothing; there really is something for everyone!

Coves d’Arta

Arta has its own jewel in the crown and this is the famous ‘Coves d’Arta’. These spectacular caves are not to be missed! The impressive display of stalagmites and stalactites, glistening in the underground cavern, is simply breathtaking! Entrance to the caves costs 15€ per adult and 7€ per child, and they are open all year from 10am (although closing times vary between 5pm-7pm depending on the time of year). This fun filled day out is not to be missed, and with a cafe and bar on sight, why not make the most of lunching at one of the most beautiful areas on the island!

Capdepera

The mountain-top town and municipality of Capdepera is a place rich in history and tradition.

The general area around Capdepera was the site of many Bronze Age settlements and was later occupied by invading forces due to its strategic importance. Capdepera itself was built as a result of a decree by King Jaume II from 1300 AD in order to protect the citizens and shipping lanes from invaders and pirate attacks. The original 14th century castle fortress of ‘Castell de Capdepera’ remains.

There are many local shops to browse in Capdepera and a number of restaurants mainly in the old town square, plus a market on Wednesdays.

Cala Ratjada

The old port of Cala Ratjada still has traditional character and charm, with numerous fishing boats. Nearby are excellent beaches, and several can be seen on a promenade walk from the tamarind-shaded little beach of Cala Gat all the way to the stony cove of Sa Pedruscada, with its tiny fisherman’s cottages, passing through the sandy beach of Cala Son Moll.

Cala Agulla is around a 15-minute-walk from Cala Ratjada town centre and has a long sandy beach. In the other direction, towards Canyamel, is Cala de Sa Font, a popular family resort.

There is a weekly market on a Saturday, and numerous restaurants and bars to choose from along the promenade. There is also a buzzing nightlife with smart night clubs with roof terraces attracting all ages which are open into the early hours of the morning during the holiday season.

Palma

Palma is the capital of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands... it is a vibrant and intoxicating mix of Art, Architecture and Culture alongside the ocean with numerous spectacular marinas... Sailing and Cycling all around the bay framed by swathes of palm trees...A gorgeous old town with the beautiful and famous Cathedral of Palma, Boutique Hotels, Designer shops, lively markets, delicious food, stylish restaurants, trendy bars and chilled cafes...with the Catalan buzz of nightlife.

Santuari de Sant Salvador Monastery in Felanitx

One of inland Mallorca's most spectacular viewpoints, the hermitage Santuari de Sant Salvador crowns a hilltop 5km southeast of Felanitx and 509m above sea level. On a clear day the whole island of Mallorca can be seen from this viewpoint.

Santuari de Sant Salvador is an iconic monastery situated on a mountaintop, offering outstanding panoramic views over the rural landscapes of Mallorca and Felanitx.

The monastery, is a popular stop for cyclists and hikers who fight their way up the steep twisting mountain roads, but do not worry, you can easily drive your car up here.

Santueri de Sant Salvador was built back in 1348, immediately after the Catalan conquest of Mallorca in 1231. In the mid-18th century, the monastery was completely restored. The altarpiece was built in honour of Imaginis Passio and dates from the fifteenth century.

Next to the monastery is the colossal monument in honour of Christ, 7 meters high and standing on a platform of 37 meters. The sculpture is from 1934 and has a modern touch in contrast to the monastery in the background.
